About the Exhibition

GASBON METABOLISMでは、ストリートカルチャー誌「HIDDEN CHAMPION」によるグループアートショーと、「NOUS BMX DISCOVERY TOUR 2026」を合わせた「HIDDEN at GASBON」を開催します。都会を離れ、自然に触れる。馴染みのアーティストたちに参加してもらい、音楽を聴き、酒を飲み、BMXに乗るライダーたちの奮闘を眺め、そのまま近隣に泊まる——そんな夏休みのような時間を、この場所で立ち上げます。

GASBON METABOLISM presents "HIDDEN at GASBON," bringing together a group art show by the street-culture magazine HIDDEN CHAMPION and the NOUS BMX DISCOVERY TOUR 2026. Leave the city, touch nature; invite artists we know well, listen to music, share drinks, watch BMX riders battle the heat — and stay nearby for the night. A time that feels like a summer holiday, raised here in this place.

きっかけは、一台の小屋でした。2023年、MIYASHITA PARKのギャラリー「SAI」で開催した「HIDDEN CHAMPION 20周年イベント」で制作した「HIDDEN KIOSK」。本や雑貨を売る小さな店のような佇まいのそれを、イベントのたびに引っ張り出して使っていましたが、また倉庫にしまい込むのは少しかわいそうに思えた——。GASBON代表の西野に相談すると「置いてもいいよ。その代わり、年に一回くらい一緒にイベントをやろう」。そこから生まれたのが、本展です。

It began with a small structure. The "HIDDEN KIOSK," built for HIDDEN CHAMPION's 20th-anniversary event at the gallery SAI in MIYASHITA PARK in 2023 — a tiny shop-like stand for books and goods, brought out for each event. Rather than shut it back into storage, HIDDEN spoke with GASBON's director Nishino, who said: "You can leave it here — in return, let's do an event together about once a year." From that conversation, this group show was born.

本展のもうひとつの軸が、「DISCOVERY TOUR」の復活です。コロナ禍の合間を縫うように、金沢から神戸まで全8都市を巡った、アート展示とBMXフラットランドのジャムセッションによる巡回イベント。それをこのGASBONで蘇らせます。開催期間の8月21日から9月7日は、まさに夏の真っただ中。難しいステートメントは、暑さで朦朧とした脳みそに届く前に溶けてしまう。テーマは、友人たちを誘った夏休み。そのくらいでちょうどいいと思っています。

The other axis of this show is the revival of the DISCOVERY TOUR — a touring event combining art exhibitions and BMX flatland jam sessions that once travelled eight cities from Kanazawa to Kobe, threading through the gaps of the pandemic. It returns here at GASBON. Running from August 21 to September 7, right in the middle of summer, the show needs no difficult statement: it would melt in the heat before reaching a sun-dazed brain. The theme is simply a summer holiday with friends. That felt like enough.

都会のホワイトキューブに作品を並べるような、凛とした雰囲気ではありません。普段の関係性のように、作品がランダムに存在し合う展示。混ざり合いながらも埋もれることのない、それぞれの個性。そのすべてが一体となった壁面から、力がみなぎってくるような空間。都会と自然のあいだ、屋内と屋外のあいだ、展示と夏休みのあいだ。そんな感覚を持った時間を目指します。

This is not the pristine, composed mood of works arranged in an urban white cube. Like the relationships of everyday life, the works exist together loosely and at random — each individuality distinct, yet never buried as they mix. A space where power surges from a wall in which all of it becomes one. Between city and nature, indoors and outdoors, an exhibition and a summer holiday.

About HIDDEN CHAMPION

HIDDEN CHAMPIONは、20年以上にわたりストリートアートやカルチャーを紹介し続けてきたインディペンデント誌です。本展は、2023年のHIDDEN CHAMPION 20周年イベントで生まれた「HIDDEN KIOSK」を起点に、GASBONとの継続的なコラボレーションとして企画されました。

HIDDEN CHAMPION is an independent magazine that has introduced street art and culture for over twenty years. This show grew out of the "HIDDEN KIOSK" created for its 20th-anniversary event in 2023, and is planned as an ongoing collaboration with GASBON.
